486 experiment36 views486 DX2 66+64 MB RAM+Voodoo 1=not much. It would have taken it over 4 hours to install 98, but I pulled the plug about 20% of the way through. That's way too long for a 486 so something else must be wrong. I inserted the CPU the wrong way twice a while back, causing it to overheat in seconds. I'm guessing I might have damaged it :P.

Getting ready to test41 viewsI was bored one night so I decided to whip out my collection of ancient parts and test them to see if they worked. Out of the 3 or 4 motherboards I tested that night, only one didn't work.

Where the parts are located51 viewsI have 13 motherboards and about 51 ISA cards. I've only used a couple of each though.

MT86+ closeup49 viewsApparently MT86+ doesn't like old computers very much. It can't even measure the elapsed time. Perhaps it's reliant on the non-existent FPU for some reason.

Memtest86+'ing a 386 SX-4072 viewsMemtest86+ gets old CPUs hot VERY quickly. I almost burnt my finger touching the CPU. That's my test bench setup with an old Trident VLB card on the box.

Motherboard again66 viewsClearer shot of the CPU. That giant black thing on the end is a 105 MB hard drive that is mounted directly onto an ISA card. The Maxtor off to the left is about 205 MB and the WD next to that is about 425 MB.

286 motherboard68 viewsIt can accept both DIP RAM chips (it has 1 MB of them) and 30-pin SIMM slots. I couldn't get the SIMMs to work correctly for some reason, perhaps the two memory types aren't mixable. The CPU is that big square in the middle-upper area, next to the AMI chip.

Back of the card47 viewsIt's a rather large card. This one has RAM chips on the back as well, unlike my previous 6800 GT AGP.

Exposed back36 viewsThe Silencer came with its own RAM heatspreader so I figured I would replace the stock one with it.

7800 Heatsink48 viewsThe 7800's heatsink with the black eVGA plate removed. The heatsink's fan was loud during gaming and it didn't cool the greatest. At least it didn't require two slots.

Silencer ready for installation35 viewsCleaned off the thermal pad that comes on the Silencer so I could use my Ceramique on it.

Exposed front37 viewsTook off the old heatsink and cleaned the thermal pad stuff off of the core.
