Exposed back36 viewsThe Silencer came with its own RAM heatspreader so I figured I would replace the stock one with it.

New Crucial RAM28 viewsAbout damn time! Waited two months for this stuff, and it would have been longer if I hadn't pestered Crucial to send me Tracers instead of my non-blingy Ballistix.

New card44 viewsThere's the new video card (GeForce Go 7950 GTX), with a CD for scale. It's about 14.5" wide, or about 37 cm.

Test run36 viewsI had let the CMOS clear for a few hours and I didn't have a monitor plugged in so the computer just sat in the BIOS. Although the RAM wasn't being stressed, it didn't get warm at all after a few minutes of idling. Hopefully that will carry over to usage at rated settings...

Back of the card47 viewsIt's a rather large card. This one has RAM chips on the back as well, unlike my previous 6800 GT AGP.

Zalman 7700 vs Big Typhoon37 viewsAnd I thought the Zalman was big...

The PSU11 viewsIt's large, heavy, powerful, and quiet. It's just barely too weak to use SLi on though :(.

Crap on floor 216 viewsAnother angle. I had the 9800 loop Nature in 3DMark 2001 for five hours to really heat it up, and ironically the computer got a BSOD a few seconds after I stopped the test :P. It was probably the system RAM acting up, or perhaps some crap my brother got on it when I let him use it...

Dual fans40 viewsI put a second Noctua on the CPU heatsink to aid in overclocking. I used four zip ties to hold the back fan onto the front, it seems to be working quite well so far. I also put two CD spindle plastic washers between the heatsink block and the bracket to clamp down harder on the CPU.Feb 15, 2009

3.7 stable45 viewsIt took me a few days but I finally got to 3.7 GHz stable with the RAM running as close to DDR3-1600 speeds as I could. I might try for 3.8 sometime later.Feb 15, 2009

Wiring it up33 viewsLots of wires and crap to hook up. The 8-pin EPS power cable wasn't long enough to go on the right side of the motherboard, so I had to route it around the back of the expansion slots and tie it off to the chipset/MOSFET heatpipe.Feb 15, 2009
