Need for Speed Underground 213 viewsI don't think it's possible to get such low times with this car but ah well :P.

The 486 itself25 viewsIt was getting up to 53 C so I put a spare 80mm case fan on top of it. This is what the CPU looks like normally. It's a Socket 3 chip.

Memtest86+'ing a 386 SX-4072 viewsMemtest86+ gets old CPUs hot VERY quickly. I almost burnt my finger touching the CPU. That's my test bench setup with an old Trident VLB card on the box.

And for the grand finale...50 views...the SLi mod worked! ^__^ Now I just have to get a more powerful PSU and another 7800 GTX then I'm all set.

Teh CPU!14 viewsThing is damn tiny. The chips off to the right are 256k SRAM chips for the L2 cache. Perhaps some day I'll take a better picture.

And it's off!14 viewsRunning the StarCraft demo quite well :). It also runs Quake 1 and Bryce 4 (raytracing program). Once I get OS 8.6 or above installed, it'll run Diablo II.

Heatsink transplant14 viewsI had originally planned on putting the 9800's heatsink onto the 9500, and putting my ghetto modded ATi Silencer on the 9800, but that didn't quite happen. It looks like the Ceramique I put on the 9500 got burnt or something. I did take the core up to 370-380 a few times, so it probably overheated. It would black out after a few seconds of 3D at 380, but 370 worked well. Stock was about 277.

Dual fans41 viewsI put a second Noctua on the CPU heatsink to aid in overclocking. I used four zip ties to hold the back fan onto the front, it seems to be working quite well so far. I also put two CD spindle plastic washers between the heatsink block and the bracket to clamp down harder on the CPU.Feb 15, 2009

3.7 stable46 viewsIt took me a few days but I finally got to 3.7 GHz stable with the RAM running as close to DDR3-1600 speeds as I could. I might try for 3.8 sometime later.Feb 15, 2009

Wiring it up33 viewsLots of wires and crap to hook up. The 8-pin EPS power cable wasn't long enough to go on the right side of the motherboard, so I had to route it around the back of the expansion slots and tie it off to the chipset/MOSFET heatpipe.Feb 15, 2009
